The new year starts off with two spirited productions: Rumors” at the Ocala Civic Theatre, opening on Thursday, January 5 and “Hairspray” at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre in Hudson on Friday, January 6.

“Hairspray,” the story of a big girl with big hair and even bigger dreams, makes its regional debut in North Central Florida at the Show Palace. The show celebrates the pop rock music of the 1960’s. On Broadway “Hairspray: set records for a musical comedy. Guest Director/Choreographer David Rosetti should deliver a polished version of the original dance routines. Neil Simon’s only stage farce, “Rumors” pits four couples against an implausible situation at a dress up dinner party. Nothing comes off as planned.
